Heat Transfer Systems

Heat transfer systems take the heat from one room and transfer it through ducts into one or more rooms

How a heat transfer system will benefit your home

Heat transfer systems, make use of excess heat in one room and distribute it to other rooms in your home. These systems do not ventilate, so are not the best option for condensation or dampness. But they can help and are a great way to even out the heat in your home. They use less power than conventional electric fan, oil and panel heaters and are a cost effective way to heat up your home.

Not recommended for houses where heat pumps are the primary heat source, these systems work best with woodburners, taking excess heat from the living space to the bedrooms.Add a Summer-Vent extension kit and you can use your system to bring in outside air during the warmer months.

Is your fire/heater generating excess heat?  If so, then a heat transfer system can transfer this heat to warm the other rooms in your home.

How it works is that you have a solid-fuel source such as a log burner in one room.  The excess heat from this is pumped out & circulated to the other rooms via ducts & fans in the ceiling.
It’s a great way of ensuring you use all the heat that is generated in your home.

The systems thermostat, a high quality ultecon digital controller ensures that only the excess heat is being transferred.  Starting the system only once the temperature in the source room exceeds your pre-set limit.  This ensures that the source room is kept at a pleasant temperature all the time.

The systems are affordably priced & run at a very low cost, using a similar amount of electricity to a 100-watt light bulb.  Heat transfer systems use an in-line fan & acoustic ducting, so they run quietly & unobtrusively.  They can be installed into new or existing homes.

Also available for the Heat transfer kits is a ‘summer-vent kit’ extension option.  This draws fresher cooler air into your home via an inlet grille that is fitted under the soffit.  This cooler air is filtered using a high efficiency F7 filter & is distributed throughout your home via the heat transfer kit outlets.  The system is controlled via a standard wall switch.

Frequently asked questions

What if I don’t have a wood-burner?

The system will work with other types of fires, such as pellet fires or gas. However, they are not suitable for homes with heat pumps

How many rooms can I transfer heat to?

Heat transfer systems are available in 1,2 & 3 room kits. An extension kit is available to create a 4 room system. If a larger system is required, the vent shop is fully equipped to custom design a system for you.

What distance do the kits cover?

One room kits can be extended to a maximum of 12 metres (6 metres supplied in kit).
Two room kits - a maximum of 21 metres (12 supplied in kit).
Three room kits - a maximum of 24 metres (15 supplied in kit).
ONE ROOM EXTENSION KIT comes with 3 metres of duct.

Why use acoustic insulated duct?

Due to the cooler temperature in the roof space, heat can be lost if the ducting is not correctly insulated. The acoustic insulation also reduces the system & air noise to an inaudible level.

How much power will the system use?

The one room system uses 46w, which is about half the consumption of an average size lightbulb. The two room system uses upto 80w & the three room system uses upto 110w.
